From Biographical Sketch in Andrea's History of the State of Nebraska:
Nemaha County
KENYON SKEEN (of Skeen and Drain, Nemaha City), is a son of AlexanderSkeen, who was born in North Carolina, and after residing in theStates of Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Missouri, settled, in 1856, onthe farm where he now lives, near Nemaha City. Kenyon Skeen was born,1846, in Buchanan County, Mo.; attended the Nemaha school, andafterward graduated from the Commercial School at Greencastle, Ind. In1872, he began mercantile business in Nemaha; was engaged in millinghere in 1879-80-81, and still owns a half-interest in the millproperty. The present mercantile firm was established in October,1880. Mr. Skeen married Miss Candis Drain, by whom he has twochildren--Hattie and Pearl, both born in Nemaha. Mr. Skeen and wifebelong to the Christian Church, and he to the I. O. O. F.
